The Bethel area offers a variety of canoeing and
kayaking on its gorgeous lakes and rivers. From gentle paddling
amongst lily pads on North and South Ponds and nearby grand Kezar Lake
to a day long adventure on the swiftly flowing but benign Androscoggin
and Ellis, there is something for everyone.

On North Pond in Locke Mills, Bob's Corner Store is
situated near the public boat launch and offers canoe rentals. A
day-long outing can be enjoyed travelling through the chain of ponds
with swimming and picnic spots on Rock Island or the Greenwood Town
Beach.

Whether your preference is for trolling the lakes and
ponds, casting a line from shore, or flyfishing the rivers and
streams, you're sure to find a favorite fishing spot in the Bethel
area. For specific information on regulations, Maine Open Water
Fishing law books are available at the Bethel Town office and at the
Chamber of Commerce office, and non-resident temporary fishing
licenses can be purchased at the town offices in Bethel, Woodstock,
Greenwood and Newry, at Bethel Outdoor Adventures in West Bethel, at
Bob's Corner Store in Locke Mills and at Dave's Store in Andover and
at several stores in Center Lovell for Kezar Lake, where there is good
bass, trout and salmon fishing.

New in 2001! Big Adventure's water park features 2 wet
and wild waterslides from the world's best slide producer ProSlide
Technologies. Dropping a whopping 40' from the slide tower are two
of the most exciting slide rides in the East.
Big Adventure's enormous "Double Down"
slide carries 1-2 people on tubes and boats snaking over 360 feet
to the pool below. For single riders we have the "Blue
Heat" which presses riders against the wall in a
dizzying 360 degree loop at the end. For maximum creature comfort
we have a large heated spa built into our landing pool where
parents can sit back and watch their children splash down.
